In May of 1999, we opened our doors on State Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to enthusiastic visitors who quickly became loyal customers. We began our company with the premise that we would remain true to our artisan roots; all of our confections would be created by us, in small batches, with only the finest ingredients. This is artisanal production at its best, a method steeped in the traditions of the elegant chocolate houses of Europe and old-fashioned seaside shops alike.

To give our confections their exceptional flavor, we start with some of the finest chocolates from around the world. We create our own unique blends and use a wide range of couvertures with varying cacao percentages to create a delicate complexity for the palate in each of our Gift Assortments. Our Fresh Cream Truffles, Marzipan Bonbons, and Palets des Fleurs reflect Ellen’s training in France, while our very popular caramel and roasted nuts in chocolate rely on more traditional American confectionery traditions. Christopher’s line of Pates des Fruits, or Pure Fruit Jellies, are produced in small batches with fresh fruits, fruit zests, and purées. Their intense flavor is unsurpassed! Glace fruits, crystallized flowers, candied violets, and mint are just some of the ingredients used to embellish our hand-crafted Artisan Bars.
